Weekend at the Gold Coast

Thursday (18 August) Brendan drove me to the train station in Landsborough where I took the train to Gold Coast - I just had to change in Brisbane. Pia picked me up at the station there and we went to her house where she made stegt flæsk med persille sovs for dinner - awesome!!!
Friday we had a really nice breakfast at a restaurant where Pia's friend is working and after that we took a walk at the beach. We walked to Surfers Paradise - it was sooo nice!

Saturday we went to Byron Bay. Unfortunately the weather was really bad - a lot of rain and really windy - but we went up to the light house to get a look at the view - the bad weather made it so beautiful! We were suppose to go to Crystal Castle but we decided to do that another time as it would be too cold. Instead we drove to Coolangatta we're we booked a room for the night at a backpacker hostel. We had dinner at the local surfclub and wanted to join the party at the hostel, however, it was someones 21st birthday so we weren't really invited, instead we went out to a local bar to have some beers and play some pool.

Sunday morning we had a walk at the beach in Coolangatta before going home - the weather was still really bad and the waves were craaaazy!! When we stood on the rocks looking at the surfers we saw 10-15 dolphins surfing the waves too - it was so amazing too see! It was a really good ending of a great weekend at the Gold Coast!

Stay tuned..

Time goes by really fast!

Well well well... what has happened since I last wrote here..

Went to Australia Zoo with Lou and Klaus - another Danish student here. Had a picnic at the zoo with a emu starring at us the entire time. Got to hold a koala bear - it was sooo sweet, but also really smelly! Got to pet a kangaroo also, that was so cool! Have been waiting to do that! I'm not that scared of them anymore, however, I better not go and pet the ones at campus if I don't wanna get my ass kicked! Zoo was really great and the weather was good!

Went to an International Food Party here at Varsity two days ago. Everyone had to bring a dish from their home country - 40 people showed up and it was amazing! Got to eat so much food :) It was a good night and got to know some new people.

Other than that I've been doing some school work and been spending some time by the pool - can't wait until it gets warmer here.

The busses have been on strike here for the last week and will be next week also which means that we are stuck at Varsity - can't really go anywhere! That sucks big time!

Going to visit Pia at the Gold Coast next weekend. Can't wait!! Hopefully Surfers Paradise lives up to its name!

Well.. enough for now :)

Happy B-day Lou!

Saturday Lou turned 27. we started out by having a great breakfast together with Trine at our place. We had home made bread, cake and cup-cakes. And of course present for Lou! As we sat there Carl and Mike from Canada joined us, we talked about a lot of great stuff and shared a bottle of champagne around lunchtime. In the afternoon we went to the beach right next to Alex Surf Club to have a BBQ. We were only four people, me, Lou, Hugh and Arne, but it was so so nice! Hugh went home early but the three of us stayed with a few bottles of wine. Aroung 1am we decided to go out. We took a cap to the only place we were able to get in that late - had a lot of fun.

Since saturday one day has taken the other. Went to the beach Wednesday for a couple of hours before class - weather was reeeaaally nice!

Changed one of my classes today and just stayed in for the rest of the day.

Scary kangaroos!!!

The kangaroos here are huge!! And they are pretty scary when there's like 10-15 of them together at the same place where I have to walk!! That's how many there was this morning on our way to the gym at campus. Instead of just continuing eating and just looking at us they decided to start jumping towards us - I immediately turned around and we started walking the wrong way! They didn't really wanna join us or anything, apparently they just wanted to cross the street!

Well.. what happened here recently... Went to the beach again - still think it's a bit to cold for swimming though. Visited Arne and Ash again, had a fire and watched the stars (saw like 20 shooting stars that night!). Stayed there for the night and went back to Varsity early in morning and then went to the beach.

Had the Accounting for Business Lecture today... I'm not glad to admit it, but it actually was really good! The teacher is cool! So... I'm gonna stick to it!

Spent this evening baking (or Lou did the baking-stuff, I did the dishes!), cause it's her birthday tomorrow. Trine is gonna come for breakfast along with a few others and we are off to BBQ at the beach later!

That's it for now!
